PT Titan Infra Sejahtera is building an integrated logistics ecosystem that not only optimizes the coal supply chain but also drives sustainable economic growth. Over the past five years, the company has become a catalyst for change, transforming infrastructure challenges into strategic opportunities. South Sumatra, with coal reserves reaching 22.5 billion tons, serves as a major buffer for Indonesia's energy industry.
As a contributor to 16% of national coal production, South Sumatra is often burdened by its reliance on public roads for coal distribution. Heavy trucks carrying 40-ton loads cause road damage, chronic congestion on the Trans-Sumatra Eastern Highway, and air pollution that triggers public protests. PT Titan Infra Sejahtera has addressed this issue by constructing a 118-kilometer dedicated coal road connecting three regencies: Lahat, Muara Enim, and PALI.
This road, managed by its subsidiary PT Servo Lintas Raya, is designed with a reinforced concrete structure capable of withstanding extreme loads. Equipped with a GPS monitoring system and a 24-hour command post, this road reduces truck travel time from 12 hours to 8 hours per trip. "This is not just about efficiency, but an effort to reduce the social impact on the community," emphasized the President Director of PT Titan Infra Sejahtera in a virtual interview.
According to data from the South Sumatra Transportation Agency, this dedicated road has diverted 1,200 trucks/day from public roads, reducing road damage by 40% since 2020. In addition, CO2 emissions have decreased by 15,000 tons/year due to route optimization and reduced operating time.
PT Titan Infra Sejahtera's strength lies in the integration of three main pillars:
Dedicated Road Network
In addition to the main 118 km route, the company plans a 25 km expansion to new mining areas in Prabumulih by 2025. This investment, valued at IDR 450 billion, is targeted to increase transportation capacity to 25 million tons/year.
Swarnadwipa Port: A Modern Export Gateway
The 62-hectare port under PT Swarnadwipa Dermaga Jaya is the backbone of exports. With a deep-water pier (18 meters) and an automatic conveyor with a speed of 4,500 tons/hour, this port cuts loading and unloading time from 7 days to 3 days per ship. In 2023, the port exported 12 million tons of coal to China, India, and Vietnam, contributing 15% of South Sumatra's total coal exports.
Intermediate Stockpile: Supply Chain Buffer
Two stockpile facilities—Stockpile 107 (65 hectares) and Stockpile 36 (80 hectares)—serve as strategic buffers. Stockpile 107 processes low-calorie coal (4,200–5,000 kcal/kg) for local power plants, while Stockpile 36 focuses on high-calorie coal (6,000–6,500 kcal/kg) for export. Both are equipped with crushers with a capacity of 23,000–30,000 tons/day, ensuring supply continuity despite extreme weather.
The presence of PT Titan Infra Sejahtera has transformed the economic landscape of South Sumatra:
"Titan's presence increases the competitiveness of South Sumatran coal in the global market," said Andi Bastoni, Head of the South Sumatra ESDM Office. In 2023, the company's contribution to the mining sector's GRDP reached IDR 6.2 trillion, or 9% of the province's total mining GRDP.
PT Titan not only serves affiliated mines but also 15 third-party mines through service level agreements (SLAs). These partnerships include a complete service package: transportation, storage, and shipping. For example, PT Batu Prima Mandiri, which previously had difficulty accessing ports, can now export 500,000 tons/year through Titan's network.
"Our logistics costs have decreased from 30% to 10% of total production," said the Director of PT Bara Energi Lestari. This collaboration also opens access for small mines to the global market, with guaranteed on-time delivery through a sophisticated logistics system.
PT Titan Infra Sejahtera not only focuses on profit but also builds harmony with the environment and society:
"We are committed to reducing our operational carbon footprint by 25% by 2030," added the President Director.
Despite its success, PT Titan faces challenges such as fluctuating coal prices and dynamic government regulations. To address this, the company is designing a diversification strategy:
"We want to become a one-stop logistics solution for various natural resources," emphasized the President Director.
PT Titan Infra Sejahtera proves that integrated infrastructure investment can transform the potential of natural resources into sustainable economic strength. With a combination of technological innovation, strategic partnerships, and environmental commitment, the company not only strengthens Indonesia's position in the global coal market but also serves as an example of responsible mining management. Amidst the energy transition, Titan's role as a bridge between the past and the future is increasingly vital, proving that the extractive industry can go hand in hand with sustainability principles.
